Maybelline "ExpertWear" Eyeshadow Swatches & Review

"Fabulous Face Friday"

Hey guys! Maybelline has been a favorite drugstore makeup brand of mine for a number of years, mainly due to their amazing mascara selection ;) Today's post is a review on Maybelline's eyeshadow singles, which are a part of their "ExpertWear" collection.

This eyeshadow is in classic pressed powder form. At a mere $3.50 per shadow, these are a super affordable alternative to any high end shadow single/pot. I purchased mine at Ulta. Aside from singles, they also come in duos, trios, quads, and 8 pan palettes - lots to choose from :) The singles are available in a total of 20 shades. The three I own are as follows:

"Night Sky" - black with silver shimmer
(comparable to "Black Tied" from MAC)
I like to use this as a liner,
for the top and/or bottom lash line.

"Cinnamon Spice" - shimmery, warm mid-toned brown

"Linen" - soft creme
I like to apply this as a brow bone highlight,
as well as in the inner corner.

SWATCHES

{no flash/natural sunlight}
Night Sky, Cinnamon Spice, Linen

How well does this product blend?
Cinnamon Spice (CS) blends the nicest. At times, the shimmer in Night Sky (NS) can apply a bit unevenly, but it's not much of an issue. The texture of Linen is somewhat on the chalky side, but again, I don't mind it.
How pigmented is this product?
CS has the best pigmentation, NS is a close second, and Linen takes the most passes, due to the softness of the shade.
Does this product contain shimmer or glitter?
NS and CS both contain shimmer.
What finish does this product have?
NS - shimmer / CS - high pearl / Linen - shimmer
These are the finishes Maybelline gives, but I really feel they got CS and Linen mixed up!
How long does this product last on the eyes?
These shadows have average staying power for a drugstore product. With a primer underneath, I don't really get any creasing, but I do notice some fading after 4 hours or so (more noticeably so with the 2 darker shades).
Is this product more suitable for daytime or evening?
Linen is absolutely soft enough for the day, CS is great for either, and NS is perfect for a smoky night look.
Would I purchase this same product again, and/or in other colors?
I don't feel the need for any more of these at the moment, but I'm happy with the quality of the ones I have.
Would I recommend this product?
Yes, especially if you're looking to start an eyeshadow collection.

The packaging is nothing special, although I do enjoy the deep blue color of the cases. Each pan comes with a sponge tip applicator, which I never care for and just end up tossing.

Do you own any of the ExpertWear eyeshadow from Maybelline? Thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Bri
